Blackberry Playbook

For

•     1080p HD video playback
•     Fast dual-core processor
•     HDMI mirroring
•     Secure email
•     Bright, responsive screen

Against

•     Hardly any worthwhile apps
•     Confusing bridge to phone
•     No email client
•     Smaller screen

This tablet brings a 3MP front-facing camera, a 5MP rear-facing one, a bright and crisp 1200x600 resolution screen, a light 425g body and all the typical gyro, accelerometer and GPS sensors and you have the makings for a powerful 7-inch tablet with a powerful multi-tasking, where you can run a video in one window and play a game in another with both apps running concurrently, is a first of its kind for a mainstream tab.

File storage capabilities, support for an HDMI connection for playing 1080p video and a slick interface make the PlayBook an interesting anomaly.

The BlackBerry PlayBook is designed to be mobile and business-friendly. That means, at 130x194mm, the device is small enough to hold with one hand, slip in a laptop bag side pouch, and even carry around all day to meetings. The smaller screen does make movies look less than thrilling, and there's not much space for more complex tablet apps.

The tablet is easy to grip and looks bright and crisp. The dual-core 1GHz processor, made by Texas Instruments, and 1GB of RAM add some muscle to the PlayBook, running most of the apps we tested smoothly and quickly.

The BlackBerry PlayBook doesn't support external storage, but does have a micro USB port you can use to connect the tablet to your computer. Once you do, you can configure the PlayBook so that it shares files over Wi-Fi. This means copying files to and from the tablet without having to connect is possible.

Google's new Nexus 7

The much awaited Google's nexus tablet is out at a price of $199 only. The new tablet, which weighs in at just 340g, packs a 7 inch screen with 1280x800 screen and comes complete with a quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 CPU, plus a 12 core GPU too.

There's integrated Wi-Fi but no 3G or 4G, a front-facing camera.
There's also no microSD card slot, so you're limited massively if you're one of those that loves HD movies.

The Nexus 7 tablet includes a microphone, Bluetooth, NFC for Android Beam, an accelerometer, magnetometer, GPS and gyroscope, and the built-in Wi-Fi supports 802.11b

As you'd expect, Google's tablet runs Google's latest operating system: Android 4.1, aka Jelly Bean. It also benefits from the very polished "Project Butter" user interface technology, which is much smoother than previous Androids or Amazon's forked version of the OS, and it's the first Android tablet to ship with Chrome as its default browser.

The battery life(4,325mAh) is a big talking point too, with a very decent nine hours of video playback or up to 300 hours of standby if you promise to be really lean with your tablet.

Google Wallet

Google Wallet is a mobile payment system developed by Google that allows its users to store credit cards, loyalty cards, and gift cards among other things.

Secure payments.
Safe and sound.

See how Google Wallet’s security features exceed those of traditional wallets and cards.

Its a wallet you can lock

Google Wallet requires you to set up a Google Wallet PIN that must be entered before making a purchase. This PIN prevents any unauthorized access or payments.

A lock within a lock

For added protection, all Android phones feature a separate lock screen. This, plus your Google Wallet PIN, provides double the security.

Encryption is the key

Not only does Google Wallet encrypt payment information, it puts the data in a place only trusted programs have access — on a separate chip in Android phones called the Secure Element.

A wallet that reveals nothing

When you save payment cards in Google Wallet, the account numbers never appear on the phone screen. So your private data stays that way.
